What Fabrics Can Be Steamed?

Fabrics ideal for steaming include cotton, linens, and some synthetics like polyester. Check garment labels for ironing compatibility. Use caution with delicate fabrics such as wool, silk, chiffon, and velvet—steam these from underneath without a brush attachment. Avoid steaming waxed jackets, suede, and materials that can melt, such as plastic or leather, as well as dry-clean-only items.
